Cleaning, pickling and passivating in one step

Underneath the mill scale which is formed during the production of carbon steel, the formation of oxygen cannot be avoided. The presence of oxygen almost instantly causes flyrust.
VPX One Step is a neutral complexbinder which removes iron oxides and simultaneously passivates the metal to cease the corrosion process. Using this product, rinsing with water and a passivation treatment are redundant.
Compared to other products of this kind, it is less corrosive, less toxic and less agressive. During a test period of two years, Vecom has booked several successes with VPX One Step. An interesting case is the treatment of a steam plant. 
Steam must be absolutely free of contamination. Solids, such as the remains of mill scale in new plants can cause substantial damage to, for example, the blades of the turbine. A combination of high turbine speed and the bombardment of metal parts, will cause erosion-corrosion of the blades. 
As a result, the clearance between the blades and the casing increases, and loss of performance and efficiency occurs. Also, the unavoidable imbalance will enhance the wear of the bearings. An often applied cleaning method is steam blowing. However, this method requires at least seven to ten days and a massive volume of water, sometimes exceeding seven to eight times the volume of the plant. The cleaning with VPX One Step only took two days and because there was no need for rinsing, a waste water problem was avoided. In terms of environmental taxes, huge savings were achieved. The combination of chemical components offers a long term protection against corrosion. 
After a period the application of VPX One Step revealed another advantage. Contrary to other comparable products, VPX One Step is neutral. An acid based cleaning agent will leave acidic remains in the narrow spaces between pipe and pipe plate of heat exchangers causing crevice corrosion quickly. This problem will not occur using VPX One Step.
